Foundation for Urban & Rural Community Development (FOUR CODS – INDIA) is a charitable registered (NGO) voluntary agency. It is working in the health field since 2001 and covering the districts i.e Thane, Raigad & Mumbai. Every year more than 500 schools are involved in this mission to spread the knowledge about Cancer, Leprasy, Aids & Eye diseases.
Inspite of Govt. and other voluntary agencies efforts in the field of overpopulation, polution, environment protection and preventive health; the overall situation in our country is not very satisfactory. ”Prevention is better than cure”. Hence FOUR CODS – INDIA started with preventive health aspect. It acquired the relevent literature on various health problems and selected to work on above mentioned diseases
It’s founder trustee Mr.Yelave is a qualified social worker from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and after 22 years experience with National & International NGO’s (Non Government Organization) promoted FOUR CODS – INDIA in 2001.
As per your choice we take one subject and educate the students about early signs and symptoms of that disease. After the programme we distribute our forms to the students to spread the knowledge among their parents, relatives & neighbourers. as a result many children, parents contact us for help & guidence and they go for treatment in its early stage.
FOUR CODS – INDIA does not receive any Govt. grant for this work. It is totally dependent on public donations. Students approach their friends, relatives with forms; many people offer some amount to FOUR CODS – INDIA to extend financial aid to needy poor patients.

OUR MAIN FOCUS IS ON PREVENTIVE HEALTH CARE.

OBJECTIVE
We wish to cover as many schools as we can in the Maharashtra district.
APPEAL
FOUR CODS – INDIA request to schools to give us a chance to educate your students about these diseases.
HOW DO WE WORK
FOUR CODS – INDIA tap school going children and conduct health awareness programmes. We do this by means of slide shows, health check up camps, posters & photo album talks. We do encourage students to comminicate this information to their parents, relatives & neighbours. We also started helping the patients for treatment through established Govt. and charitable hospitals.
SCOPE OF WORK
We are based in INDIA. At present we are concentrating on Mumbai, Thane & Raigad districts in Maharashtra. Due to limited man power and financial limitations at present we are working in this area but we definately wish to grow & help more & more people. For the same, your help & support is always welcome.
Four Cods India wants to reach every house hold to educate every one about major diseases like cancer, blindness, leprosy and AIDs. For this work we targeted all schools – granted and non granted – primary and secondary schools including zilla parishad and municipal primary school.
We strongly belive that if we can awakenand educate students about major diseases; the health message will reach to their parents, relatives and neighours. Slowly the community will get awakened and will be careful to take necessary precautions. If early signs and symptoms of disease like cancer, blindness, leprosy and AIDs gets diagnosed then many major diseases can be cured before any kind of deformity & life can be saved.
So we request all the schools to give us a chance to educate your students and their parents about above mentioned diseases & spread awareness.
OUR APPROACH
Four Cods Indi’s staffs approaches all the schools in their allotted areas and explains the need for such awareness programs. Every year the topics for slide shows are changed and as per the local need the programme priority is decided. Special as covered the emphasis is given on cancer disease as mostly paitents go for treatment at very late stage.
At present, Four Cods’s India has covered the schools in Mumbai, Thane & Raigad districts.
Govt. of Maharashtra’s Director of Health Services and Education Dept had issued us a letter to spread our activities all over Maharashtra. In future we will definitely start working in other districts
FEEDBACK
All the schools have felt that our programs are very useful & they have given us letters about their utility. Due to limitation, we are presently concentrating on Mumbai, Thane & Raigad districts. FOUR CODS – INDIA does not receive any Govt. or International funds for its activation. It depends on school to generate some funds for its activities.
OUR BUDGET
We had started our mission in the year of 2001 with just 2 lakhs and slowly got acceptance from the community (schools). By 2013 now we have reached up to Rs.35 to 40 lakhs successfully.
No Govt., International or company donations are taken so far.
For Four Cods India’s activities the funds are generated only through schools from Mumbai, Thane & Raigad districts.
FUNDS
So far Four Cods India has not taken ant Govt. grant or even foreign Aids although it is emmited to get it.
We strongly believe that the funds should be generated from the community who are benefited from programs. All the schools and students who are educated about major diseases through slide shows, photo album, talks, class wise or assembly talks are appealed to spread health message in their locality and appeal to give some donations volenteerly. We don’t compel students to collect funds. It is all volenteerly but we do encourage them to spread health awareness message in their locality and educate their family, relative & friends.
